Limitations
This isn’t an all-in-one app, and we are still improving.
Drawbacks
SceneOne was initially created by the developer as a personal interest project to learn programming and was only used for personal work needs. It is still developed independently by the author, who thought the features were good enough to try commercializing.
- Due to technical challenges, SceneOne documents are saved and published locally. It does not provide cloud upload, download, or collaboration features.
- Advanced information such as `Camera`, `Angles`, `Location`, `Script`, `Participator`, `Lenses`, `Alternative Note` cannot include some required details like duration, sound effects, etc.
- When exporting `Storyboard` or `Rundown`, you can only select one of the above contents. There is no layout that displays multiple contents simultaneously.
- The content of the `Callsheet` does not fully consider the configuration of a film crew.
- Only adapted for a 16:9 ratio.
- Does not have shot numbers or reel numbers, which are essential for professional filming teams.
- Does not provide any storyboarding drawing features.
- Does not have large team management features.
- ……
Given these limitations, please consider your needs carefully before purchasing.
Why We Didn’t Include These Features
As this is the author’s first programming project, there are still quite a few bugs and immature development aspects.
More importantly, the goal of the software is not to compete with large projects. Large projects have sufficient manpower, time, and budget to complete a comprehensive and beautiful shooting plan, which many small teams like the author’s cannot achieve. I usually only have a few days to sort out the entire script, repeatedly communicate with all parties, and adjust according to multiple constraints. A shooting plan as long as it’s clear, effective, error-free, and doesn’t take up too much of my time is enough.
